Often people attempt to live their lives backwards: they try to have
more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want so
they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You
must first be who you really are, then, do what you need to do, in order
to have what you want.

DID YOU KNOW
Fibrocystic breast “disease” is not a disease at all.
It is simply a result of estrogen dominance. The exciting part is that
returning fibrocystic breasts to normal is one of the most consistently
successful clinical results of balancing hormones naturally with natural
progesterone. Let’s hear it straight from the doctors:
“It’s become clear to us that painful and lumpy breasts
of almost every description are caused by estrogen dominance and can
be helped with the use of transdermal natural progesterone (not synthetic
progestins, which often make them worse). The French recognized in the
mid-1970s that application of progesterone topically to the breasts
helped clear up problems with fibrocysts. Dr. Lee receives mail every
week from women telling him how grateful they are that their breasts
became smooth and painless after one, two or three cycles of progesterone
cream. This is also one of the most consistent reports we receive from
clinicians that use progesterone cream in their practices.
We believe that estrogen dominance is an unrecognized risk factor
for breast cancer, and in this context it makes sense that chronically
lumpy and painful breasts would also be a risk factor. The good news
is that the underlying metabolic imbalance causing the estrogen dominance
is fairly easy to correct with small doses of progesterone cream that
mimic what the body would be making if it were ovulating.” (From
pages 32 & 33 of “What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About
Breast Cancer” by John Lee, MD, David Zava, PHD and Virginia Hopkins.)
Estrogen dominance can also be reduced by lowering your exposure to
synthetic estrogens found in foods (beef, chicken, and milk), and xenoestrogens
found in petrochemical products (pesticides, solvents, plastics, and
air fresheners). For more details, read about estrogen dominance strategies

TESTIMONIAL
On Heartland’s AudioTape “A Life Changing Message Every
Woman Should Hear”, Dr. John Lee relates an incredible testimonial
about a young woman with a severe case of fibrocystic breasts. She was
one week away from having a double mastectomy performed when her parents
learned from Dr. Lee that natural progesterone helps balance excess
estrogen, the cause of fibrocystic breasts in the first place. They
decided it was worth a try – what could she lose? After only two
and a half cycles on the natural progesterone, the difference in her
breasts was so dramatic that the doctors could no longer find the cysts,
and the mastectomy was avoided.
For this story and many others from Dr. Lee’s extensive clinical
experience with natural progesterone, call Heartland today at 1-888-772-2345
to order a copy of this powerful two-set audiotape.

IN THE NEWS
September is National Pediculosis Prevention Month – that means
it’s time to remember the ins-and-outs of preventing head lice.
They include building your child’s immune system, keeping on a
look out for nits and lice, and using preventative measures like Lice
Arrest, Heartland’s outstanding NON-TOXIC lice shampoo. For details,
check the articles on lice in the Heartland Newsletter Archives (click

UMass Researcher Studies Head Lice Using Artificial "Scalp"
AMHERST, Mass. – Head lice, which crop up on the heads of six-to-12
million people in the U.S. every year, are becoming increasingly resistant
to the special shampoos used to treat them, says University of Massachusetts
Amherst toxicologist John Clark. He and researchers in his lab are trying
to solve the problem by studying head lice reared on an artificial scalp
designed in conjunction with researchers at the University of California-Davis.
The project, funded by the National Institutes of Health, was presented
last month at the meeting of the American Chemical Society in Boston.
"I get phone calls from parents and school nurses who are very
stressed out, saying that the over-the-counter treatments just aren't
working," said Clark. Since most schools will not allow children
back in the classroom until all of the lice and their eggs, or nits,
are eradicated, kids are missing out on school, and parents often must
stay home from work to care for them until the infestation is cleared
up.
Most commercial anti-louse shampoos are based on the pyrethrins, an
extract that is derived from chrysanthemums which has low toxicity to
humans. The problem, according to Clark, is that similarly acting compounds,
such as DDT, have been used for more than 60 years in getting rid of
lice, and more and more of the insects, which live only on human heads,
are surviving the treatments. Essentially, lice vulnerable to the treatments
are being slowly killed off, and those that can withstand it are surviving
and reproducing, creating a strain of hardy survivors. That translates
into a best-case scenario for the lice, and a worst-case scenario for
humans, said Clark, who points to studies finding that 50 to 98 percent
of the parasites remain after being exposed to these insecticides.

As the Heartland natural community well knows, the quickest way to
deal with lice is Lice Arrest, Heartland’s enzyme-based natural
solution for lice infestations. Not only does it help wash lice out
of hair, but also interrupts the reproductive cycle by shampooing out
young lice before they are mature enough to lay more eggs. Find out
more at www.licearrest.com or call your Heartland representative to

ALKALIZING YOUR BODY
We always come back to plant-based eating for health. Dr. Lee recommends
it for hormone balancing, the Surgeon General recommends “five
a day” for health and the raw food movement is the fastest growing
group of vegetarians. When it comes to alkalinity, virtually all veggies
create it. This is not coincidence – the alkaline-forming ash
in vegetables is one of the reasons we get so much healthier by basing
our diet around them. If you are not a veggie-lover, remember two things:
you can juice them to get a powerhouse of vegetable nutrition in a few
gulps, or you can train your taste buds to actually enjoy them. Every
fourteen days you have a brand new set of 260 taste buds. To train them,
you must consistently eat the food you are “training” them
on. Eventually you begin to crave that food.
ALKALINE HIGHLIGHT: Asparagus – 6.5. “Even canned, it
drops only to a 6.0! A very powerful acid reducer and known therapy
for cancer. Its high ammonia content literally plummets one into alkalinity
in a short period of time. In the past, asparagus has been considered
acid-forming because it so quickly detoxifies the person, leaving acid
residues in urine specimens immediately after ingestion.” (Page
47, Alkalize or Die by Dr. Theodore A. Baroody)
ACID HIGHLIGHT: Yellow bananas (without speckles). In this case, beauty
is only skin deep. Unless a banana is “speckled” with brown
spots, it is acid-forming. Be patient and only eat the truly ripe ones.
If it is ripe with speckles it rates highly alkaline forming at a 6.0
– otherwise it is acid-forming!
