DID YOU KNOW
Estrogen and progesterone are two important hormones with
multiple purposes in the human body. While they are best
known for their female reproductive roles, they also play
diverse roles in men's bodies (at lower levels). The critical
factor for these two hormones is that they need each other
to function properly. They play opposing roles and belong
together, just like a pair of shoes need to match. If you
walk around with different sized heels on your shoes, you
don't have balance. The same is true when you have too much
estrogen coupled with a lack of progesterone. You might
manage OK at first, but after a while it gets very tiresome!
When this hormonal imbalance occurs, the excess estrogen
becomes toxic to the body. Some common effects of estrogen
dominance include irritability, rage, depression, increase
in body fat storage, fatigue, headaches and decrease in
sex drive. Some more serious consequences of estrogen dominance
include steoporosis, gallbladder disease, breast and uterine
fibroids and cancer, prostate inflammation, and risk of
stroke.
Excess Estrogen + Progesterone Shortage = ESTROGEN DOMINANCE,
affecting men, women & children.
Why you might have too much ESTROGEN:
- Pesticides of all sorts (considered "xenoestrogens" because
they contain synthetic estrogens that imitates natural estrogen
in the body)
- Foods contaminated with pesticides and insecticides (especially
meats, milk and coffee, unless you buy organic)
- Bovine estrogen in beef and milk (unless you buy hormone-free)
- Poultry loaded with estrogen to get to market faster and
fatter(unless you buy hormone-free)
- Petrochemical exposure from solvents, adhesives, plastics
and petrochemical ingredients in products.
- Prescribed synthetic estrogen (the number one prescription
in the United States)
- Excess body fat. Our bodies are always making estrogen
because fat cells also produce estrogen.
Why you might not have enough PROGESTERONE:
- Not eating enough plant-based fresh foods containing phyto-progesterones
(do you eat more processed foods or fresh vegetables and
fruits?)
- Your mother consumed xenobiotics when you were an embryo,
or was exposed to toxic petrochemicals like DDT when your
sex organs were being formed on the 14th day after conception.
Some xenobiotics are foods containing pesticide and insecticide
residue, and can damage the the follicles in the ovaries,
which are crucial in adulthood for normal progesterone production.
Jerilyn C. Pryor, MD, an endocrinology professor at the
University of British Columbia, found through testing that
50 percent of the women in North America are severely deficient
in progesterone by age 35.

DEAR HEARTLAND,
I ordered your natural progesterone product and received
it about the 25th of June, 2000. I have used it for one
month and have noticed improved health. I no longer take
Ibuprofen daily for headaches and I have noticed increased
energy and no sugar cravings. I have lost 3 pounds in the
past month. I also noticed that my fybrocystic breasts have
gotten much better.
I was 33 when I had a complete hysterectomy. It is now
3 years later. I have fought the past 8 years with a so-called
auto-immune disease. I think the Dr.'s just slapped the
name on me because they didn't know what else to blame my
body malfunctions on. After reading Dr. John R. Lee's book
on "What your Doctor May Not Tell You..." I am so convinced
that this is my answer to many years of prayer.

HOT NEWS
"Estrogen Imitating Chemicals in Sunscreens"
Summarized From "New Scientist" magazine, 21 April 2001
GENDER-BENDING chemicals that mimic the effect of estrogen
are common in sunscreens, warns a team of Swiss researchers
who have found that they trigger developmental abnormalities
in rats. Researchers know that chemicals which behave like
estrogen can cause health problems. They can have a dramatic
effect on animals, for example turning fish into hermaphrodites.
Margaret Schlumpf from the Institute of Pharmacology and
Toxicology at the University of Zurich, Switzerland and
her colleagues tested six common UV screening chemicals
used in sunscreens, lipsticks and other cosmetics. Five
of the six chemicals behaved like estrogen in lab tests,
making cancer cells grow more rapidly. One of the most common
sunscreen chemicals, 4-MBC, had a particularly strong effect.
When the team mixed it with olive oil and applied it to
rat skin, it doubled the rate of uterine growth well before
puberty. "That was scary, because we used concentrations
that are in the range allowed in sunscreens," Schlumpf says.
4-MBC and other sunscreen chemicals have been shown to
accumulate in fish from lakes where people swim. More worryingly,
they have been found in breast milk at levels of nanograms
per kilogram of fat--about the same as other known environmental
contaminants. Schlumpf worries that the large amount of
sunscreen used by bathers, especially children, could dramatically
increase this exposure. For the moment, she isn't advising
people to ditch sunscreens completely, but suggests that
sunblocks like zinc oxide might make a healthier alternative.
